The « Hygge » or the Danish happiness

By Coline

The hygge, pronounced « hoo-ga », is a life philosophy coming from Denmark to privilege wellness moments. This technique seems to work as the Scandinavian countries are the happiest since many years.

Yes, but how ?

The technique is really simple. In winter : candles, big socks, hot chocolate and friends/family. In summer : a bike ride, a picnic in the park, music festival or a barbecue with friends. The hygge looks like what we called the « cocooning ». The key is to privilege warm, comfort and friendliness feelings. For the Danish people, it is a priority, a necessary and a regular ritual.

The key ? Take the time and enjoy it.

Certain may think that you need time if you want to cocoon. Error... you need to take time. If your agenda does not allows you a day off to practice the hygge, know that simple actions can bring you a touch of comfort. Alone or accompanied, with family or with friends, inside or outside, the Hygge can be practiced in all circumstances, adapted to your tastes.

Everyone has his own recipe...
