Meet Aurore Morisse

By Stéphanie

Meet Aurore, an entrepreneur, inspiring and fulfilled woman who travelled all around the world !

Aurore, who are you ?

My name is Aurore, I'm 26. My mom is Polish and my father... well we don't know. His mother is French and his father is unknown (German or American... we still don't know). I have a twin sister named Alice and a little sister named Ambre. I live in Liège but I'm often away. I can be at my place for 3 months and travel just two or three days or it could be the opposite : I'm away for 3 months. My heart is in Liège but my head is all around the world.

You have an atypical background, tell us more about it.

My background ? Chaotic (laughs) ! No, seriously it was tormented. I went to school until I was 16. I was dismissed for serious absenteeism. The reason ? My life as a model :) ! I had this double life : I was a student and a professional model. I decided to go in a special school which tolerates absences for professional reasons (elite sports competitions, atypical profession like mine). After that, I started a business school (HEC, Liège in Belgium), but I often got lost in the corridors. I quickly gave up. Then, I went to another business school. I asked myself « why do you want to study business ? » I have really good languages and litterature skills. I gave up again and I started to study public relations. I finally graduated despite serious absences :).

How did you become a model ?

When I was 14, my twin sister wanted to do an audition. Personally, I was a tomboy. I was only friends with boys and I was really happy about that. I went to the audition and the recruiter sent us to Paris the week after. My sister stayed in Paris for 2 months and I stayed in Milan for 2 months. I had the chance to audition for many brands and I met wonderful people. I loved it ! I built my character. I partied quite often and saw the job backstages... I saw girls making themselves vomit, escort girls, the drug world... but I never touch it ! My parents always ensured my education and they instilled in me the common sense. No tattoo, no drug and always be prudent !

I started pretty young. At that time, I would run out of an audition in tears because I was to young to be selected. They laughed at me. It was hard ! Now I'm working more because I’ve been building my image over the years. I spent all my money in unsuccessful castings. It nearly took me 7 years to work like I do today. Now, I don't have to audition anymore. It is time, money and personal investment.

What about today ? How do you live ?

Today, I'm a model and I have my job of communication and digital marketing consultant. I’m a partner in an art rental project and I'm a private assistant in the equestrian sector. Beside, I'm building my own business. I would like to take over my parents' business. They have been antiquarian for 30 years. I’ve always been surrounded by art and business. That's easy for me ! I'm a merchants' daughter. I intend to take over the store's annexe and offer a mix between vintage, contemporary and old arts.

How do you build your image as a model ?

By people firstly. An agency network puts you in contact with clients and other models. We give each others jobs. I've been independent for a couple of years but you have to keep a network. You have to extend your contacts. I was contacted by agency from Greece, Germany, England... It's simple ! I contacted them, I went there, I moved. I often was tired because I ran around everywhere. I learned that is better to target people. Today, I create my network differently by talking to the right person. It's like building your own model agency.

Do you use social media for your model career ?

No. If I wanted followers on my Instagram, I would post naked pictures and million of people would follow me. But it doesn't bring me anything. Of cours,e I can make money out of it but I don't want to. My purpose is to have fun in my life ! I don't want to spend my entire time stucked on my phone. I have an Instagram account where 1900 people follow me. I post pictures that I like.

You travel a lot, a total of 40 countries !

I love travelling. I need to travel. I would be sad if I could not do it. I went to Africa, Latin America, USA, Canada, Asia and Europe. I visited 40 countries altogether. Sometimes, I travel just with my backpack, sometimes I go to a really luxury hotel... For my personal trips, I take a 70 litres bagpack and my walking shoes. And I don’t plan anything.

I'm often travelling alone. Travels bring me a reflection about myself. Through my travels, I can discover many different things (psychologically and physically). Travels are very constructives moments of solitude.
My next trip is Japan or Colorado.

You talk... 8 languages !

Yes, it's true. I love languages ! I speak French, English, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, German...I have few notions of Russian and I can carry on a simple conversation in Indonesian.
I learned English with a karaoke that my dad bought me when I was little. I'm curious so I learned by myself. I sang English songs, I translated them, I wanted to understand. I learned languages at school but I mainly learned languages during my travels. I learned German at school but I expanded my knowledge during my trips. I learned Spanish during a shooting for the brand C&A in Mexico and I took languages classes. Tequila probably helped me :) ! I learned German and Russian because I love both of those countries.

What do you love ?

I love sport, water, mountains, ice-creams, candies, a coffee with a book in the local coffee bar, wearing oversize comfortable sweaters... I like to be pretty, I like to be ugly, I love dealing with many different emotions.

What do you hate ?

I hate violence, lack of humour and people who are always complaining.

You are a true entrepreneur woman. Where do you see yourself in 10 years ?

I'm seeing myself as a well-rounded women, mother and business women. I want to stay in the action and in the business. I'm taking over my parents' business and I would like to build it into something bigger. I would like it to be a reference in the furniture field. I still see myself as model in ten years.

What boost you ?

My lifestyle inspires me. Art and the nature, smart people and little things boost me. Meaningful discussions nourish me.

Your advice ?

Dare a lot of things ! Put your modesty and your fears aside and go for it.

Your typical day ?

Every day is different. I never get up and go to bed at the same time. I don't have a routine but I admire people who do. I would pay to exchange my life for a couple of days with someone who has a routine.

How do you deal with this hectic life ?

Hard to answer…

How do you take care of yourself ?

I buy many products that I never use because I don't have time. I have 15 moisturizers and I use a different one every day . I never put make-up on so my skin is breathing. I take my make-up off every night even if I don't wear any. If I'm in a hurry, I don’t put anything on my skin, and I apply oil or greasy face cream.

I can sleep 5 hours or 10 hours... It depends.

I prefer to eat quality and local food. Early vegetables. I pay good money for quality food. I don't drink sodas. I'm not a big fan of hamburgers ou french fries but I love chocolate and sweets. An advice to lose weight ? Don't eat starches after 4PM (pastas, rice, bread...). Do it during 1 month and you will lose weight ! When I really want to lose weight, I stop eating starches. I eat quinoa or bulgur instead. I eat a big lunch and I eat a light dinner. I love fruits and vegetables so it helps. I have always preferred carrot sticks and cauli-flowers instead of crisps.
